Warning long Post! (I know I don’t like long posts either)
But this my heart as the Pastor
Matthew 19:14 KJV
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Please don’t stop bringing your children to church just because they act like children.
Some Sundays they sit and listen.
Some Sundays they spend the entire service turning around to see who is behind them.
Some Sundays they ask questions at full volume during the invitation.
Some Sundays they spend the whole service treasure hunting in their nose and sharing the results with nearby church members.
And some Sundays you’re so busy parenting that the only part of the sermon you remember is “open your Bible”
And thats okay.
Children aren’t born knowing how to sit through a church service. They learn by being there and being taught by you!
Nobody learns to behave in church by staying home from church.
One day they’ll sit where you sit.
One day they’ll sing the hymns they hear today.
One day they’ll understand the sermons they’re only catching bits and pieces of right now.
One day they’ll have memories of faithful parents who kept bringing them, even during the seasons when getting everyone to church felt like preparing for a military operation.
The goal isn’t raising children who never wiggle.
The goal is raising children who love the Lord, love His house, and know that Sunday is where God’s people gather.
So if your child drops their Bible, waves at half the congregation, crawls under the pew, or has to make an unscheduled exit, don’t be discouraged.
Deal with it. Teach them and move on!
Most of us who grew up in church were once the reason our parents sat near the back. (Very back row in my case)
A church with a little noise from children is a healthy church that usually has a future.
Keep bringing them.
The wiggles, whispers, and wandering attention spans won’t last forever—but Lord willing the seeds being planted just might.
